A regular spring-cleaning is a messy but very necessary facet of home care. You can get down and dirty yourself if you can safely access all your gutters, or opt to bring in some professional health (with insurance cover to boot) depending on your property’s needs.
It’s a great idea to time this to late winter or early spring, before the rains jam up the gutters but after the autumn leaves fall.
Throughout the rainy season, watch for tell-tale signs like overflowing gutters that clearly have an out-flow jam, or spreading areas of rust that may mean there’s a problem brewing. Wet leaves sitting in a gutter too long start to damage the metal, and once that process starts it’s hard to stop.
